question: how to advance to a new HTML at end of video playback
Posted July 7th, 2008 by Steve Wertheimer
OK you Flash (and other technology) wizards,
I need to have a 'thing' happen, and I'm guessing there are several ways to do it. I don't know any of them
I have a Flash video on a website. I would like to automatically go to another html page at the conclusion of the video playback. Any ideas?
I don't see a way to set this when creating the swf file, so is there some other flash component that allows this, or maybe a little javascript that does it, or.... ?

One way would be to
One way would be to incorporate some version of a getURL() method in your AS or timeline. However, that depends on how you embedded your video in the first place. In an ideal world, you'd call some kind of onComplete(0 method or evaluate where you are on the timecode/duration and then call the getUrl().
Could you let us know how you've embedded your video or are you using a third party like youtube or brightcove?
What version are you publishing to? 7, 8, 9?
Do you have the Flash authoring program or just the player? If so, what version? MX,8,CS3?
Why do you want to advance to another web page automatically after the video completes? There might be another, simpler way of achieving your design objective.
I'm not an expert on Flash video, although we do have people here who are.
