I wanted to post some updated information on LAFlashapaloozastock III (LFPS3).

  • The event website URL is: flashapalooza.com.
  • FITC Presents: LAFlashapaloozastock III is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th, from 11A (breakfast) until midnight (end of party). Complete schedule posted on the site.
  • All speakers have been booked, and all speaker information has been posted to the site.
  • The party this year will be off the hook -- and out of the warehouse! Yes, that's right, we've reserved THE ENTIRE BLOCK for the free street party. We'll post more information on party events and details closer to the event.

Teaching @ USC

Howdy LAFlashers:

As some of you know, I've been teaching at USC Engineering School for the past three years. The course I teach is called 'Web Animation and Interactivity' -- but is essentially Intro Flash, with a decent helping of other web standards (typography, video, audio, etc).

I am taking next term off, and likely won't return to teaching this particular course, so they are looking for a replacement. The job description and application information is in the attached GIF.

FYI, I have the course completely written for Flash CS3 (which is what will be taught in Spring term, since they won't have time to upgrade over Xmas break) -- and mostly re-written for CS4. So you could use/modify that (if you want to save some time), or write your own, as you prefer.

Beginner Flash/AS3 person

I have designed sites (and logos and brochures and print) for 20+ years. Always hired out the Flash/PHP/ASP etc etc. With the economy downturn, I am going to finally learn AS3 and Flash and become more self-sufficient. I do not know where to start and am looking for advice on how and where and what to learn and in what order.
